Pollen allergy: an unsolvable problem?

Although most people are happy with the arrival of longer days, for many, spring means sneezing, a stuffy and always runny nose, itchy nose and eyes and even a dry cough and shortness of breath. These are the symptoms of rhinitis, conjunctivitis and allergic asthma.
Pollen allergy: an unsolvable problem?

If this is your case, and every year you need to take medication at this time of year, know that there are desensitization treatments with vaccines specifically made for each individual's allergies (allergen immunotherapy), which greatly reduce allergy symptoms and the need to take medication.

After correctly identifying the pollens to which you are allergic, with skin prick tests and/or blood tests, a vaccine in drops or spray applied daily under the tongue or an injectable vaccine given every 4 weeks in the arm may be indicated, taking into account your allergies and also personal preference. Full treatment lasts between 3 to 5 years, depending on your response to the vaccine. The effects are not immediate, but they are long lasting. It is the only treatment for allergies whose effect lasts for years, even after you have stopped taking it.

So yes, there is a solution, which must be evaluated individually in an Immunoallergy consultation.
